In short

Overview

Pool water care keeps your water clear, balanced, and safe to swim in. We test sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and stabilizer, then adjust the water so it stays comfortable and equipment stays protected.

Pool Water Care That Keeps Your Water Swimmable

A weekly water care visit checks the levels that matter most. Free chlorine or salt-cell output should sit in the swimming range, pH should stay in the mid-7s so sanitizer works and surfaces do not scale, total alkalinity should buffer pH so it does not swing, and calcium hardness should match the surface type. A full panel beats a strip glance: sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and stabilizer.

Fix alkalinity before chasing pH, and clean the filter before adding more product. After circulation, test again so the next visit is not guessing.

What the Visit Covers

Weekly Silver Essential is $59 per week plus HST. Silver and Gold weekly plans bill routine chemicals separately. Standard pool vacuuming is $95 per hour plus HST, portable pump vacuuming is $189 per hour plus HST, salt cell cleaning is $45 plus HST, cartridge filter deep cleaning is $125 plus HST, water feature startup is $40 plus HST, solar heating startup is $50 plus HST, and an additional cleaning visit is $125 per visit plus HST.

Advertised opening pricing covers standard residential inground pools up to 16 by 32 feet with a standard safety cover. Larger pools, specialty covers, and jobs needing extra labour or equipment may cost more. Customers should give their pool dimensions when requesting service.

What Changes the Price

Pool water care pricing depends on volume, bather load, sunlight, and whether the filter is actually clean. A larger pool needs more product and more time to circulate. More swimmers add contaminants that consume sanitizer. Direct sunlight breaks down chlorine faster, so a sunny yard often needs more frequent adjustments. A dirty filter makes the pump work harder and slows down water turnover, which can mean extra cleaning before the water balances properly.

How it works

How the Work Is Done

A water care visit starts with a full panel test: sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and stabilizer. The technician fixes alkalinity before chasing pH, because alkalinity is the buffer that keeps pH stable. If the filter is dirty, it gets cleaned before more product is added, so the water can actually circulate. After the adjustments, the water is tested again to confirm the levels are in range.

Hot weeks need more sanitizer and longer pump run times, so the next visit is planned around the weather and how the pool is being used.

Questions

Questions People Ask First

How often should pool water be tested?

Weekly testing is the standard for pools that get regular use. Hot weeks need more sanitizer and longer pump run times, so a weekly visit catches changes before they become problems. A full panel test covers sanitizer, pH, alkalinity, calcium, and stabilizer.

Why does my pool water burn my eyes?

Burning eyes usually mean high pH or chloramines, not always too much chlorine. High pH makes chlorine less effective and irritates eyes. Chloramines form when chlorine binds to contaminants. A full panel test shows which one is causing the problem.

What causes scale on pool tile?

Scale on tile comes from high pH and high calcium, often with a heater. High pH pushes calcium out of solution, and it sticks to surfaces. Testing calcium hardness and pH, then balancing them, prevents scale from building up.

What is the most common water care mistake?

Adding acid and chlorine at the same time in the same spot is a common mistake. The two products can react with each other instead of the water. They should be added separately, in different areas, with circulation running between additions.

Jovian and Kyle installed our pool last year in South Etobicoke. We have very tight access to the backyard and other pool companies recommend a vinyl pool because of the tight access. We knew we wanted a fiberglass pool and these guys figured it out and got it done with a beautiful Mova Pool. The whole project took no more than 2 weeks. Excellent work with both pool and interlocking. Highly recommend!

Jovian installed our pool and surrounding patio last summer. Good experience from start to end. Solid communication and support throughout the project. Money well spent! (and It looks great!) Thanks, Jovian!

Jovian, Kyle, and their team did an outstanding job transforming our outdoor space. It was a major project involving the replacement of interlock, construction of fences, a deck, pergola, and bench, as well as planting and lighting. They worked quickly and efficiently, executing every aspect with exceptional skill and professionalism. Their communication throughout the process was excellent, keeping us informed and confident every step of the way. We couldn't be happier with the results — the craftsmanship and attention to detail truly exceeded our expectations. One of the best testaments to their work is that two of our neighbours have since hired Stone for their own backyard projects!

Thank you so much for making our front yard so inviting, and our backyard one we can now relax and enjoy. Jovian, was amazing to work with on the design, making changes as we requested them, and making suggestions where appropriate. The budget price for the project was fair, and the project came in on budget and ahead of schedule. Professional communications and reliable service. Thanks so much.

Jovian and his team did an amazing job on our backyard patio, clearing out our small deck and replacing it with stone tiles across the width of our house. But he really outdid himself by building a stone bench around 13 feet long from the very basic description I gave him. Seats 6 people and grandkids love to run across the top.

Joe and his team came in and in one week completely transformed the look of our yard. Stone steps and armour stone as well as plantings and a new fence. We get compliments every day from neighbours and those passing by.

Jovian was one of the only contractors that explained to us the proper way of fixing our front stone steps and re-doing our flagstone with a wet lay. After hiring numerous contractors over the years, he was one of the few that I did not have to worry about making sure that the job was done properly, thus alleviating much stress that occurs during projects. He was professional, courteous and work was completed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend his services and will always use Stone Landscaping for anything I need done in the future.
