In short
Leak detection finds where your pool is losing water so you can fix the right spot the first time. A dropping water level is not always evaporation, and the difference matters. We check the shell, the plumbing, and the equipment pad to pinpoint the leak. Then you can plan the repair with clear information.
A pool that loses water faster than normal evaporation needs a closer look. Start with simple checks before calling for help. Mark the waterline and watch the drop with the pump off versus on. Check the equipment pad, unions, and valve stems for wet spots. Dye-test returns, skimmer throat, and light niches on inground shells.
Pressure-test plumbing lines when the drop pattern points past the shell. These steps narrow down whether the leak is in the shell, the plumbing, or the equipment.

The Pool Club offers leak detection as part of its pool repair services. The service area includes Aurora, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Newmarket, and King City. The visit focuses on finding the leak, not guessing. We inspect the shell, plumbing, and equipment pad.

Several factors affect the cost of leak detection. Access to the pool and equipment makes a difference. A leak in the pad is usually easier to reach than one underground. Whether a liner or concrete repair follows also changes the total.

How it works
Leak detection starts with a simple test to confirm water loss. Then we compare the drop with the pump on and off. The process is methodical and avoids unnecessary digging.

Questions
A bucket test or marked waterline shows whether water is leaving faster than evaporation. If the water drops more than normal evaporation, you likely have a leak. Mark the waterline and watch the drop with the pump off versus on to narrow it down.
Drop with pump off points to the shell, skimmer, light, or suction line. Drop faster with pump on points to pressure-side pipe, return fitting, or heater. Wet pad only points to pump lid, unions, or a cracked filter tank.
A bucket test or marked waterline shows whether water is leaving faster than evaporation. This confirms the leak before any equipment is used. Then pump-on versus pump-off drop tells shell versus pressure-side plumbing.
You can do simple checks. Mark the waterline and watch drop with the pump off versus on. Check the equipment pad, unions, and valve stems for wet spots. Dye-test returns, skimmer throat, and light niches on inground shells. But pressure-testing plumbing lines is best left to a professional.
Drop faster with pump on points to pressure-side pipe, return fitting, or heater. The pump adds pressure to that side of the system, so a small crack opens up under pressure. Dye, pressure, or acoustic tools then find the fitting or pipe.
Wet pad only points to pump lid, unions, or a cracked filter tank. Check the equipment pad, unions, and valve stems for wet spots. These are usually easier to fix than underground leaks.
Spring openings reveal winter ice damage. Mid-summer heat makes evaporation look like a leak. So spring is a good time to check after the pool is opened, and summer requires a bucket test to rule out evaporation.
Our sister company
The Pool Club comes from the team behind Stone Landscaping & Pools, rated 5.0 on Google.
Jovian and Kyle installed our pool last year in South Etobicoke. We have very tight access to the backyard and other pool companies recommend a vinyl pool because of the tight access. We knew we wanted a fiberglass pool and these guys figured it out and got it done with a beautiful Mova Pool. The whole project took no more than 2 weeks. Excellent work with both pool and interlocking. Highly recommend!
Jovian installed our pool and surrounding patio last summer. Good experience from start to end. Solid communication and support throughout the project. Money well spent! (and It looks great!) Thanks, Jovian!
Jovian, Kyle, and their team did an outstanding job transforming our outdoor space. It was a major project involving the replacement of interlock, construction of fences, a deck, pergola, and bench, as well as planting and lighting. They worked quickly and efficiently, executing every aspect with exceptional skill and professionalism. Their communication throughout the process was excellent, keeping us informed and confident every step of the way. We couldn't be happier with the results — the craftsmanship and attention to detail truly exceeded our expectations. One of the best testaments to their work is that two of our neighbours have since hired Stone for their own backyard projects!
Thank you so much for making our front yard so inviting, and our backyard one we can now relax and enjoy. Jovian, was amazing to work with on the design, making changes as we requested them, and making suggestions where appropriate. The budget price for the project was fair, and the project came in on budget and ahead of schedule. Professional communications and reliable service. Thanks so much.
These guys are the best!!.. five stars!.. Jovian and his team are the greatest to work with.. they listened to how I envisioned the fence and they followed through… . Look no further for your outdoor desires .. they are professional, punctual, friendly and fun!..
Jovian and his team did an amazing job on our backyard patio, clearing out our small deck and replacing it with stone tiles across the width of our house. But he really outdid himself by building a stone bench around 13 feet long from the very basic description I gave him. Seats 6 people and grandkids love to run across the top.
Joe and his team came in and in one week completely transformed the look of our yard. Stone steps and armour stone as well as plantings and a new fence. We get compliments every day from neighbours and those passing by.
Jovian was one of the only contractors that explained to us the proper way of fixing our front stone steps and re-doing our flagstone with a wet lay. After hiring numerous contractors over the years, he was one of the few that I did not have to worry about making sure that the job was done properly, thus alleviating much stress that occurs during projects. He was professional, courteous and work was completed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend his services and will always use Stone Landscaping for anything I need done in the future.
