In short

Overview

Pool closings are the seasonal service that drains, blows out, and seals your pool so winter ice cannot crack lines or damage equipment. The Pool Club offers pool closings across Aurora, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Newmarket, and King City. A proper closing balances water, lowers it to the right level, and fits a winter cover that keeps meltwater out of the pool.

Pool Closings That Prevent Freeze Damage

A closing is not just putting a cover on. The work that matters happens before the cover goes on: water is balanced, the level is lowered, lines are blown and plugged, and the pump is drained. Skipping any of these steps leaves water where ice can expand and split a pipe or crack a fitting.

What the Visit Covers

The Pool Club offers pool closings as a standalone service. The closing visit covers the winterization work itself: balancing water, lowering the level, blowing and plugging lines, draining the pump, and fitting the winter cover. Pool vacuuming, additional balancing chemicals, and equipment repairs are extra on both opening packages, and the same applies to a closing when extra work is needed.

What Changes the Price

The price of a pool closing depends on a few things. Cover type matters: a safety cover takes longer to fit than a simple tarp. Spa attachments add work because the spa lines and equipment also need to be winterized. If the pool is dirty, extra vacuuming is needed first, and that adds time. The size of the pool and how accessible the equipment is also change how long the job takes.

How the Work Is Done

Then the lines are blown out and plugged so freeze expansion cannot split pipes. Closings happen before repeated overnight freezes, often late September into October.

Plans

Start with a plan or an opening

Advertised opening pricing covers standard residential inground pools up to 16 by 32 feet with a standard safety cover. Larger pools, specialty covers, and jobs needing extra labour or equipment may cost more. Customers should give their pool dimensions when requesting service.

Questions

Questions People Ask First

When should I close my pool?

Closings happen before repeated overnight freezes, often late September into October. Waiting until after a hard freeze risks water left in lines expanding and cracking a fitting.

What happens if I close a dirty pool?

Closing a dirty pool traps debris under the cover all winter. The debris breaks down and stains the liner, and you open to a mess in spring. Vacuum first or pay for extra vacuuming before the closing.

Why do lines need to be blown out?

Lines are blown, plugs set, and the pump drained so freeze expansion does not split pipes. Water left in a line over a hard freeze can crack a fitting, and that repair costs more than the closing.

How is the winter cover secured?

The cover is locked or water-bagged so wind does not dump it. A cover that blows off lets leaves and meltwater into the pool, and you may find the cover sunk in spring if the cover pump failed or bags leaked.

What does a pool closing cost?

The cost depends on cover type, spa attachments, and whether extra vacuuming is needed first. Ask for a quote before booking.

Do you close pools in my area?

The Pool Club offers pool closings in Aurora, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Newmarket, and King City.

What if my cover sinks in spring?

A cover sunk in spring usually means the cover pump failed or the water bags leaked. The cover then sits in the water and lets debris through. A proper closing fits the cover so meltwater sits on the cover, not in the pool.

Jovian and Kyle installed our pool last year in South Etobicoke. We have very tight access to the backyard and other pool companies recommend a vinyl pool because of the tight access. We knew we wanted a fiberglass pool and these guys figured it out and got it done with a beautiful Mova Pool. The whole project took no more than 2 weeks. Excellent work with both pool and interlocking. Highly recommend!

Jovian, Kyle, and their team did an outstanding job transforming our outdoor space. It was a major project involving the replacement of interlock, construction of fences, a deck, pergola, and bench, as well as planting and lighting. They worked quickly and efficiently, executing every aspect with exceptional skill and professionalism. Their communication throughout the process was excellent, keeping us informed and confident every step of the way. We couldn't be happier with the results — the craftsmanship and attention to detail truly exceeded our expectations. One of the best testaments to their work is that two of our neighbours have since hired Stone for their own backyard projects!

Thank you so much for making our front yard so inviting, and our backyard one we can now relax and enjoy. Jovian, was amazing to work with on the design, making changes as we requested them, and making suggestions where appropriate. The budget price for the project was fair, and the project came in on budget and ahead of schedule. Professional communications and reliable service. Thanks so much.

Jovian and his team did an amazing job on our backyard patio, clearing out our small deck and replacing it with stone tiles across the width of our house. But he really outdid himself by building a stone bench around 13 feet long from the very basic description I gave him. Seats 6 people and grandkids love to run across the top.

Joe and his team came in and in one week completely transformed the look of our yard. Stone steps and armour stone as well as plantings and a new fence. We get compliments every day from neighbours and those passing by.

Jovian was one of the only contractors that explained to us the proper way of fixing our front stone steps and re-doing our flagstone with a wet lay. After hiring numerous contractors over the years, he was one of the few that I did not have to worry about making sure that the job was done properly, thus alleviating much stress that occurs during projects. He was professional, courteous and work was completed in a timely manner. I would highly recommend his services and will always use Stone Landscaping for anything I need done in the future.
